The National Assembly Committee on Environment, Forestry, and Mining visited the Kenya Meteorological Department (KMD) earlier today to familiarize themselves with the activities of the department and better understand how it fulfills its mandate of providing weather and climate services to the people of Kenya. During the visit, the Committee met with the Director and Senior Staff of KMD. Acknowledging the department's exemplary work in delivering timely and efficient weather and climate information, particularly during the short rain season. The Committee congratulated the department for its achievements. Furthermore, the Committee expressed a commitment to support the Kenya Meteorological Department in its activities as presented to them. This indicates a willingness on the part of the Committee to provide assistance and resources to enhance the department's capabilities and services. Overall, the visit confirmed the importance of the department's role in serving the people of Kenya through the provision of essential weather and climate services. Present at the meeting was Mr. John Elungata, Secretary Administration and Mr. Odhiambo, Director Human Resource Management both from the Ministry of Environment, Climate Change and Forestry.
