Deputy Director, Climate Services

Kennedy Kimani Thiong’o has over 22 years of work experience at the Kenya Meteorological Department (KMD) having grown through the ranks to the position of Deputy Director. He has worked in various sections of the Department that include forecasting, Global Atmosphere Watch (GAW) and Meteorological Application. He has a passion in air pollution and its impacts on climate and health. He is also registered with the National Environment Management Authority (NEMA) as an Expert in Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) and audit.

Thiong’o holds a Master of Science (MSc) degree in Meteorology from University of Nairobi, 1998 and Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree in Meteorology from the same University, 1994. He has attended numerous management and leadership courses.
