Iranian delagation visit to Kenya Meteorological Department

Thursday 2 October 2025: Official visit by Mr. Ali Gholampour, Ambassador and Permanent Representative to the United Nations Office and International Organizations, Nairobi and Dr. Sahar Tajbakhsh Deputy Minister of Roads and Urban Development, President of Iran Meteorological Organization and Permanent representative of the Islamic Republic of Iran with WMO.

The Iranian delegation held talks with Mr. Charles Mugah and Mr. Benard Chanzu which centered on establishing collaboration between the two Organizations in the areas of operational research and training. Of major interest were collaboration in specialized training specifically in the area of agrometeorology.

The meeting agreed to hold further in-depth discussions on how both institutions can collaborate to build the capacity of its staff and improve services being offered to its respective citizens.

The Iranian delegation toured the Forecasting office, the KMD Server room, the Windborne project, the Regional Instrument and Calibration Centre and the WMO/RTC-IMTR offices.

Present the the meeting was a representative from the State Department of Foreign Affairs Ms. Glenna Motusi. KMD Director was accompanied by DDFS, ADSWP, ADICT, ADMCS, ADPPP, ADSPF and the office of the ADCCR.
