WIS 2.0 Training workshop

Monday 13th October 2025: WIS 2.0 Training Workshop kicks off in Nairobi, Kenya

PR of Kenya with WMO Mr. Edward Muriuki, this morning officially opened a one week training organized by KMD in collaboration with WMO and the CREWS project. The workshop has brought together 24 technical experts from the NMHSs of 16 African countries who will be trained to enhance their country's capability to share, access, and utilize weather, water, and climate data in real time, in alignment with the WMO Information System 2.0 (WIS 2.0) standards.

The training is being conducted by Head of National Center for Meteorological Research and Information System at the WMO, Mr. Hassan Haddouch with assistance from Mr. Peter Mutai (ADICT) and Mr. Tom Kradilis of WMO.

Participants are engaging in hands-on sessions focused on implementing WIS 2.0 data-sharing protocols, metadata management, cloud-based data exchange, and integration into the global WMO network.
