KMD Ag Director Mr. Edward M. Muriuki Monday 9th March 2026 officially opened the Capacity building Workshop on Advanced Downscaling Techniques for County Directors of Meteorology, that will be held for one week. The workshop has brought together CDMs from 23 Counties to equip County Directors and forecasters at the county level with the technical skills to generate high-resolution, downscaled climate products

The training workshop seeks to fulfill the requirements of the World Meteorological Organization's (WMO) Global Framework for Climate Services (GFCS) regarding the provision of Climate Information Services (CIS) across the entire meteorological value chain.

The workshop is supported by WMO through the CREWS project and FEWSNET.

Remarks at the opening were also given by Mr. Charles Mwangi, who was representing the Director IMTR, Mr. Patrick Mulehi, BBC Media Action and Mr. Dominic Kyalo, CDM Machakos County.
